Our Legacy of Innovation and Global Growth

Over 60 years of excellence in Transmission and Distribution sector

1975

S&S Power took root in 1975, when two visionary engineers, Mr. N.S. Sethuramon and Mr. A.R. Santhanakrishnan, came together in Madras (now Chennai) with a shared dream of building world-class power solutions. Driven by Innovation in Engineering, Switchgear, Protection and Control, and Automation, the company began its journey with a clear focus on technical excellence and long-term value creation. From this modest inception, the company has grown into an institution with over five decades of legacy, delivering engineering excellence across 50+ countries worldwide.

1978

We commissioned our first manufacturing facility at Porur, Chennai, marking the start of commercial production. The factory produced pantograph-type and switching Isolators for EHV systems ranging from 66kV to 400kV. This period also witnessed a pioneering milestone - the introduction of the Vacuum Circuit Breaker in India, made possible through a technical collaboration with Brush Switchgear and South Wales Switchgear.

1990

The company entered a transformative phase with its takeover by the Mumbai-based Hamilton and Co. (represented by Mr. Ashish Jalan and family). Their renewed vision drove the successful turnaround of the Railways Products business acquired from TVS, and the establishment of a strategic joint venture in Malaysia.

1996

We expanded our manufacturing capabilities by setting up a new factory in Pondicherry, operating under our Chennai division. This facility added strength to our production base and further supported our growing portfolio.

1997

We acquired Acrastyle Limited, UK, marking the start of our global footprint. With this acquisition, S&S Power began operating as a conglomerate, bringing in two subsidiaries that function independently while contributing to a shared vision.

1997

Since the acquisition by Hamilton and Co., we deepened our reach across Southeast Asia, tapping across markets. This momentum was soon pushed by the Southeast Asian financial crisis, a phase that tested S&S Power's values and the resilience needed to navigate these turbulent times.

2000

As part of our portfolio realignment, the LV & MCB business was sold to Schneider and the LV & MV Fuse business to Cooper Bussmann, while the Railway Brakes and Signals business was divested and the Porur plant closed. These moves cleared all liabilities and strengthened our foundation. Even through this restructuring, the Pondicherry and UK businesses were protected, and the HV Disconnector business was systematically nurtured, shaping our core portfolio for the future.

2011

We established a joint venture with Coelme to promote our Disconnector products, combining expertise and market reach. This collaboration strengthened our portfolio and created opportunities to deliver greater value to customers through strategic global partnerships.

2011

We set up a new unit at M.M. Nagar, Chennai, marking an important step in strengthening our Chennai operations. This facility also enabled the systematic nurturing and growth of our High-Voltage (HV) Disconnector business, laying a stronger foundation for the years ahead.

2016

To further strengthen our manufacturing footprint in the region our company headquarter was shifted to a sprawling 50,000 sq. ft. integrated multi-modal facility in Chennai, bringing together operations, innovation, and administration under one roof.

2023

We streamlined our global operations with a sharper focus on sustainability and efficiency. Our Chennai and UK facilities continued to drive growth, while the Pondicherry plant was divested and its operations integrated into the Chennai unit.

2024

With effect from February 2024, a new management team was put in place under the leadership of Mr. Krishnakumar Ramanathan (KK). He was onboarded as the Managing Director & Group CEO, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter in S&S Power Group's journey.

2024

In June 2024, we completed the acquisition of Hamilton Research and Technology Private Limited (HART), a Kolkata-based company specialising in proprietary automation technology. With its strong expertise and focus in the aluminium sector, HART became an important addition to the S&S Power Group, broadening our technological capabilities and industry presence.

2024

The year marked a pivotal restructuring phase for S&S Power, strengthening both our balance sheet and business portfolio. Through a preferential allotment to promoters, we raised INR 46 crore, which enhanced our net worth by INR 91 crore and enabled the repayment of loans and interest of INR 37.75 crore in July 2024. These actions transformed our financial standing, with net worth improving from INR (4.31) crore as on March 31, 2024, to INR 69.03 crore by March 31, 2025. This turnaround underscored the success of the restructuring effort and positioned the Group on a stronger footing for sustainable growth.

2024

As part of the restructuring, Mr. Vikas Arora, CEO of HART, was integrated into the wider S&S Power leadership team, strengthening collaboration across the group.

2025

SSPSE welcomed Mr. N. Balasubramanian as the new Chief Executive Officer. His onboarding marked a fresh phase of leadership, focused on steering the company towards its next chapter of growth and excellence.

2025

We onboarded Mr. Nick Dunn as the Chief Executive Officer of Acrastyle Limited, leading our UK operations. His appointment reinforced our commitment to strengthening international business and driving growth in global markets.
